WHAT SILDENAFIL AND WHAT IT IS USED

Sildenafil  belongs to a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5. It works by helping the granting of blood vessels in your penis, thus allowing blood to enter the penis during sexual arousal. Sildenafil Teva would help only in case of sexual stimulation. You should not take Sildenafil Teva, if you suffer from erectile dysfunction. You should not take Sildenafil Teva, if you are a woman.

Sildenafil is a medicine for men with erectile dysfunction, sometimes called impotence. This means that man can not get, or keep a hard, erect penis suitable for sexual intercourse.


2. BEFORE YOU TAKE SILDENAFIL 

Do not take Sildenafil :

If you are taking medicines containing nitrates, as the combination may lead to potentially dangerous decrease in your blood pressure. Tell your doctor if you are taking any of these medicines which are often given for relief of angina pectoris ("angina"). If you're not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist;

If you use any medicine that is known to be nitric oxide donor such as amyl nitrite ("poppers"), as the combination may cause a potentially dangerous decrease in blood pressure;

If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to sildenafil or any of the other ingredients of Sildenafil Teva;

If you have severe heart or liver problem;

If you have recently had a stroke or heart attack, or if you have low blood pressure;

If you have certain rare inherited eye disease (such as retinitis pigmentosa);

If you have ever had loss of vision due to non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAPINZN).

Take special care with Sildenafil Teva

Tell your doctor:

If you have sickle cell anemia (an abnormality of red blood cells), leukemia (cancer of the white blood cells), multiple myeloma (bone marrow cancer);

If you have a deformity of the penis or disease Peyronie;

If you have heart disease. In this case, your doctor will carefully examine whether your heart can take the additional load, such as sexual activity;

If you currently have a stomach ulcer or a bleeding disorder (hemophilia);

If you experience a sudden decrease or loss of vision, stop taking Sildenafil Teva and contact your doctor.

Sildenafil Teva should not be used simultaneously with any other type of treatment for erectile dysfunction.


Special precautions for children and adolescents

Sildenafil Teva should not be administered to patients under 18 years of age.


Special warnings for patients with kidney or liver problems

You should tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems. Your doctor may decide to prescribe a lower dose.


Taking other medicines

Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

Sildenafil Teva tablets may interact with some drugs, particularly those used to treat chest pain. In case of emergency, you should tell the medical specialist who treats your condition that taking Sildenafil Teva and when you do it. Do not take Sildenafil Teva with other medicines unless your doctor has told you.

You should not take Sildenafil Teva, if you are taking medicines called nitrates as the combination of these products may cause a potentially dangerous decrease in your blood pressure. Always tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any of these medicines that are often used to alleviate the manifestations of angina pectoris (or "chest pain").

You should not use Sildenafil Teva, if you use any drugs known as nitric oxide donors such as amyl nitrite ("poppers"), as the combination may cause a dangerous decrease in your blood pressure.

If you are taking medicines known as protease inhibitors, such as for the treatment of HIV-infection, your doctor probably will prescribe a start at the lowest dose (25 mg) Sildenafil Teva.

Some patients who are treated with alpha blocker to treat high blood pressure or prostate enlargement may experience dizziness or light-headedness, which may be caused by low blood pressure upon sitting or standing up quickly. Some patients have experienced these symptoms when taking Sildenafil Teva with alpha-blockers. This is most likely to occur within 4 hours after taking Sildenafil Teva. You must be

regular daily dose of your alpha-blocker before taking Sildenafil Teva, to reduce the likelihood of these symptoms. Your doctor may start you on a lower dose (25 mg) Sildenafil Teva.


Taking Sildenafil Teva c food and drink

Sildenafil Teva can be taken with or without food. However, you may find that Sildenafil Teva act more slowly if taken with a heavy meal.

Drinking alcohol can temporarily impair your ability to produce an erection. To obtain maximum benefit from your medication, we advise you not to drink large amounts of alcohol before to take Sildenafil Teva.


Pregnancy and lactation

Sildenafil Teva is not indicated for use by women.


Driving and using machines

Sildenafil Teva can cause dizziness and impair your vision. You should know how you react to Sildenafil Teva, before driving or operating machinery.


3. HOW TO TAKE SILDENAFIL 

Always take Sildenafil Teva exactly as your doctor tells you. If you're not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist. The usual dose is 50 mg.

You should not take Sildenafil Teva more than once a day.

You should take Sildenafil Teva about one hour before you plan to have sex.

Swallow the tablets with a glass of water.

If you have the impression that the effect of Sildenafil Teva is too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Sildenafil Teva would help you to get an erection if you are sexually stimulated. The time for action Sildenafil Teva is different in different people, but normally around half to one hour and a half. May find that Sildenafil Teva act later if you take it with a heavy meal.

If Sildenafil Teva does not help you to get an erection, or your erections long enough to complete sexual intercourse successfully, you should inform your doctor.


If you take more dose of Sildenafil Teva

You may experience an increase in side effects and their severity. Doses above 100 mg do not increase the efficacy.

You should not take more tablets than you have been told by your doctor.

Call your doctor if you take more tablets than necessary.

4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

Like all medicines, Sildenafil Teva can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Adverse reactions reported in association with the use of Sildenafil Teva, are usually mild and of short duration.


If you have chest pain during or after intercourse:

Take a semi-sitting position and try to relax;

Do not take nitrates to treat chest pain;

Immediately call your doctor.

All medicines, including Sildenafil Teva, may cause allergic reactions. If after taking Sildenafil Teva get any of these symptoms, call your doctor: Sudden wheezing, difficulty breathing or sleepiness, swelling of the eyelids, face, lips or throat.

After taking Sildenafil Teva has been reported prolonged and sometimes painful erections. If you get an erection that lasts more than 4 hours, immediately call your doctor.


The following adverse reactions have been reported in approximately the following frequencies:

Very common: affects more than 1 user in 10;

Common: affects 1 to 10 users in 100;

Uncommon: affects 1 o 10 users in 1000;

Rare: affects 1 to 10 users in 10,000;

Very rare: affects less than 1 user in 10 000;

Not known: from the available data can not be estimated frequency.

Very common:

headache.

Common:

flushing;

indigestion;

effects on vision (including abnormal color vision, light sensitivity, blurred vision or reduced sharpness of vision);

stuffy nose;

drowsiness.

Uncommon:

vomiting;

skin rash;

bleeding at the back of the eye;

inflammation of the eye;

bloodshot eyes / red eyes;

eye pain;

double vision;

abnormal sensation in the eye;

irregular or rapid heart beat;

muscle pain;

drowsiness;

reduced sense of touch;

dizziness;

ringing in the ears;

nausea;

dry mouth;

chest pain;

feeling tired.

Rare:

high blood pressure;

low blood pressure;

seizures;

stroke;

bleeding from the nose;

sudden decrease or loss of hearing.

Additional adverse reactions reported during post-marketing period include: pounding heartbeat, chest pain, sudden death, heart attack or temporary reduction of blood flow to part of your brain. Most, but not all of the men who received them had heart problems before taking this medicine. It is not possible to determine whether these events were directly related to the use of sildenafil. Furthermore, there are reports of convulsions or seizures and serious skin reactions characterized by rash, blisters, peeling skin and pain which require immediate medical care.


If any of the side effects gets serious, or you notice other effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.


5. HOW TO STORE SILDENAFIL TEVA

Keep out of reach of children.

Do not use Sildenafil Teva after the expiry date stated on the blister and carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.

Store in the original package to protect from moisture.

Medicines should not be disposed of in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.


6. FURTHER INFORMATION

What Sildenafil Teva

The active substance is sildenafil. Each tablet contains 100 mg of sildenafil (as citrate).


Other ingredients are:

Core: microcrystalline cellulose, calcium phosphate dibasic anhydrous, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate.

The coating: polyvinyl alcohol, titanium dioxide (E171), macrogol 3350, talc and indigo carmine aluminum lake (E132).


Sildenafil Teva looks like and contents of the pack

Sildenafil Teva 100 mg film-coated tablets are white, oval, engraved with an "S 100" on one side and plain on the other.

Sildenafil Teva is available in blister packs of 2, 4, 8 and 12 tablets and perforated unit dose blister packs containing 10x1 tablet.

Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
